Featuring in the space to grow category, the beyond the screen garden is being sponsored by Facebook - a first for Chelsea. Sussex designer Joe Perkins explains how the social media company has influenced the design.
It's undeniable that social media is now part of most people's everyday lives. As its popularity grows, so too does the controversy surrounding it, and Facebook is no stranger to this. However, the world's largest social media platform is sponsoring Joe Perkin's Beyond The Screen garden at this year's show in a bid to promote the positive effects that social media can have on our lives.
Inspired by family holidays to the Basque Country in northern Spain, Joe's garden will represent our connection with social media through its coastal environment - this strong theme of connectivity runs throughout the garden. Joe says "We are all connected physiologically with the ocean as we are all make up of 60% water and because oceans connect the whole world".
