Experienced Landscape Designer / Landscape Architect
We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Landscape Designer / Landscape Architect to join our award-winning design studio in Hove.
We provide innovative garden and landscape design to both private homeowners and organisations who want to improve their environment with sustainable, biodiverse and beautiful outdoor spaces. Our experience includes residential, public and historic properties often in sensitive or protected settings. We specialise in designing projects which both feel right and are durable and resilient, maximising people’s enjoyment of and connection to nature.
Based near Brighton, Sussex; our studio works on projects across the Southeast including London, as well as taking on commissions throughout the UK, Europe and further afield.
The role
You will be joining a small but very successful team delivering high quality residential and commercial projects. The business is at an exciting stage of growth and development, so the Senior Landscape Architect is a key role, ensuring that the studio delivers on client projects and managing client/contractor relationships. You will also be assisting in mentoring our graduate landscape designers.
As such project management experience is essential, and the ability to foresee and respond to issues as they occur. You should be able to work on all parts of the design process from concept to masterplan, technical design and project delivery, working successfully on your own and as a part of the team.
We offer ongoing CPD training and development.
We are based in Hove, East Sussex and offer Hybrid working. However, time in the studio every week will be required.
The successful candidate will be able to display the following skills and qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Landscape Architecture or similar with 5 years minimum relevant experience
- CMLI desirable but not essential
- The experience and ability to take on and run projects independently
- Excellent communication skills. The role will involve dealing directly with clients, contractors, suppliers and other members of the design and construction teams
- Proficient use of Vectorworks is essential
- A high level of design ability from freehand sketching through to construction detailing
- Proficient in InDesign/Photoshop and SketchUp
- Experience of administering contracts and overseeing projects on site
- Up to date knowledge of UK planning
- Ability to travel to site where necessary (full UK driving licence and car)
- Excellent plant knowledge
- Excellent materials knowledge
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently with effective project documentation management.
