Beautiful barn conversion has wonderful surrounding meadows and a small woodland
Originally part of a larger farm, this beautiful barn conversion has wonderful surrounding meadows and a small woodland, however the original garden lacked any interest and with low brick walls surrounding 3 sides, the building felt hemmed in and entirely disconnected from the large lawn.
The brief was to make access from and around the house both easy and attractive and to design a large multi-use seating and entertaining areas to catch the evening sun, with reflective pool, fire pit and sunbathing terrace.
The large lawn area is subtly divided using quads of longer meadow grass and multistem trees, in effect a take on a traditional orchard, giving a nod to the agricultural past of the building and its setting. The trees also add a counterbalance to the mass of the barn and it’s accompanying outbuildings.
Planting is designed for mid-spring to early autumn, grasses and perennials providing dynamic movement and colour during the months when the garden is most in use.
