Coastal Wildlife Garden

This garden is set within the protected landscape of the Chichester Harbour Conservancy. The design works closely with the site’s natural character - mature oaks, estuary views, and a coastal meadow- while enhancing its ecological value and sense of place.

Around the house, we've designed a series of spaces to balance privacy with openness: a sheltered courtyard to the north, a soft woodland glade to the west, and permeable screening to the south that filters views while encouraging curiosity and movement.

The eastern edge draws on the site's existing woodland structure, transitioning gradually into open grassland and wetland habitats, with planting designed to reduce maintenance requirements and increase biodiversity. The design responds sensitively to the site's AONB, SSSI and Ramsar designations.
